Here's some info on a good rate at a hotel very close to HOB:

Springhill Suites
410 North Dearborn St. Chicago,
Illinois 60610 USA Phone: 1-312-644-4071
This is across the street from HOB!

If your stay that weekend includes either Thursday or Sunday nights, the rate is $79 per night, rather than $99 per night if you don't have one of those days.
This is for a room with a king bed and a sofa bed, so at least 4 people could fit in the room. There is a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave, and the rate also includes a hot breakfast (yum!).

This is a very nice hotel, and the rate is hard to beat in downtown Chicago. One half of the building is Springhill, and the other half is Residence Inn. They are both by Marriott, so if you have Marriott points, you can use them there.

I got an email today from AirTran. They have a special rate for the Days Inn that Dino was recommending. Use lpk2 - a single queen is $75.65 and a double queen is $84.15. The executive rooms were $88.12.

Just realized that Dino's hotel is not listed in this thread. Here is the link:

Right now there is a great deal at the Hotel Sax (HOB Hotel) for 93 bucks a night via hotels.com. It is their valentines weekend special rate and includes valet parking!!!! Just thought I would spread the word!

Nancy/BBE- Those rates for SHS are no longer showing up. It was 99.00 on two of the days (thurs-sun) and then goes up quite a bit for the fri-sat rate. I booked using my AAA plus membership card and got a flat rate 89.00 + Tax, so for 4 nights including tax it was 415.00

StephMiami- I did not see that rate for Hotel Sax atg Hotels.com just now. It was 159-179 per night

Still have not decided on a hotel...Dino's hotel seems a little far from HOB. I am pretty sure I have regular not VIP tickets to HOB. I just bought tickets. Has anyone stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel before?

Never stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel. Did stay at the Renaissance Chicago (it is close to the HOB & very nice). I looked up the SAX hotel & it looks funky (it is next to the HOB). Other hotels we've stayed at are not close to the HOB (Palmer House Hilton through Hotwire) & Hyatt (Hotwire), Four Points by Sheraton (not close either, I think).

Did you chk out any reviews on the Hard Rock Hotel to see what people say about it?
melodyinnj
Yes, I did read some reviews. It seems that most hotels have some reviews where people absolutely loved it, and then there are others where they hated it and had the worst experiences ever. LOL. I trust my hammerfriends' opinions.

Tripadvisor has some pictures of the Hard Rock Hotel & 4 stars out of 5 for that many reviews looks good. Hopefully some HH's can recommend one close to the HOB. Have fun!

Mel, I think Isa and Janet have stayed at Hard Rock. I feel sure Lisa C. did once. You might ask them.

So are most people staying @ the Hammer Hotel? I didn't know if I wanted to because it's not exactly centrally located. Eek. I need to pick a location! I wanted a good deal, but um...I'm taking too long!

Do you like "Hotwire"? They have some pretty good prices for the Feb dates, it only gives you the location, the hotel star rating, you don't get the hotel name until you've paid.

You can name your price sort of like that on Priceline...I get nervous, but I guess if you pic location and stars you'll be OK.

Hi,

I know what you mean about nervous not knowing what you've got until you've paid. This is what I've done, I've used Hotwire.com & then chking the location & amenities at the hotel I'm interested in & looked at betterbidding.com & checked the area for Chicago Il * looked at the hotels being used by Hotwire in Chicago & tried to make a guess at what hotel it might be. We've gotten the "Palmer House Hilton" & Hyatt (we liked both). The "Palmer House Hilton" did have a lot of panhandlers in that area but the hotel was awesome. The prices seem very good for February. Maybe booking straight from the hotel is not too bad this time of year either.

We still haven't found low enough airfare, so might not happen for us. Hope your trip is great.
