Any word on the second show yet for Saturday?
sjjo1973
Mar 7 2008, 04:24 PM
dino answered Nancybbe question in the band section on this topic
we had a show and a party planned for Saturday, but because of reasons beyond our control, they couldn't happen.
I suggest we start a thread and everyone pick something groovy to do on Saturday. Keep in mind that it is the St. Pattys day parade in CHicago, so Chicago will be happenin that weekend!

kareoke, would be fun. I also found this Chicago bar/lounge that would be cool. Just not sure if it would hold all us HH's!
Cityscape Bar
350 N. Orleans St. , Chicago
Tel: (312) 836-5000
The Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza has opened Cityscape in the southeast corner of the Atrium lobby. True to its name, the 15th-floor bar will have striking views of the Chicago skyline and river. It will feature eclectic food (like roasted duck tamales, 8 dollars) and a libations menu with organic and locally brewed beers (like Half Acre, $6), certified organic and biodynamic farmed wines and specialty cocktails and martinis.
The 2,750-square-foot, 99-seat space has a white "wave" wall with built-in plasma TVs. Two additional plasma screens hang from above the granite bar. One corner nook is enclosed with fabrics, serving as a 77-square-foot VIP area with direct southern Chicago views.

Also, not sure of location relative to where everyones staying.

Say When is playing at the Elbo Room. I will probably go there. Tix are $10. They are playing with Ready the Destroyer, Killing the Enemy (formerly Sounddrifter), and Johnny Twentythree. It looks like Ready the Destroyer is the headliner, but I'm not positive.

Maybe the guys would be up for some more guest bartending. We could all pitch in for the drink fixin's. I would gladly volunteer our room for the location. I'm sure my roomies would be ok with the idea.

I want to see Matt do another acoustic show. I know I posted that I will be going to see Say When, but if we can't get the band to perform, I'd love to see Matty! Anyone else share those sentiments?

I will share sentiments. And sediments too! Really, I just wanna do stuff.

I wanna go to the parade! It would be a blast if everyone going to the parade all met at the same corner. Kind of a Hammerhead contingent!
Does the parade go near the HOB? If so, then a corner near there would be good.
I want to see the green river, too.
Other than that, we are up for anything! We just want to hang with Hammerheads. :)
Lunch? Dinner? Bars later? Just say the word!
It would be neat to have the guys come hang out with us for awhile, too, like at the breakfast after the TV appearance over the NYE weekend. It was just friends hanging out with friends, and it was great!
Maybe we could all go to a show together or something? I'm sure they like to see other bands, too. Or karaoke, and we can sing for THEM! (They will soon see why they are the ones that do it for a living, and why we have day jobs!

)
If they have other stuff to do though, that's OK. We will still have a good time doing up the town.
Any ideas? Post 'em here!

We are now planning to see the river turned green & the other 3 people I'm with want to do the parade. I plan to hit a bar around that time
I'm up for anything, I'd love to hang with HammerHeads but not sure if we have time to plan something (I'm not a good planner). I say we play it by ear. I'll be renewing contacts with friends I've met before & introducing myself at the showto people I haven't met yet, exchanging cell numbers etc. I'll bet we can plan "on the fly"
Does anyone know if the boys are going to hang on Saturday?

I think Karaoke sounds like fun and someone also suggested a party in their room later. I think if we plan a place and time "they" will come. We just need to tell them. But we need to do it soon. So to our fellow Chicago hammerheads - tell us where we should go that will hold a large crowd. Once we nail the plan - then we will ask LH to show up.

As far as karaoke goes here is a link to the place we went to on Hammerjam weekend.
http://www.red-ichicago.com/index.cfm
Make no mistake, this is NOT a fancy place - HOWEVER - we went late on a Sunday night with no reservation and we had over a dozen people, they didn't charge us for a private room, all they charged us for was the drinks and as I recall the drinks were CHEAP! Get an amazing dinner from the restaurant a couple doors down not the place right under it, get a few drinks in you and crank up Master of Puppets and rock on! I know I for one had a blast there.
Take the Red Line train to the Cermack stop and walk towards the red gates to Chinatown, it is right on the corner above Penang.
Wish I could be there

Here is a link to some St. Pat's Day related stuff going on around town. We have bowling, free corned beef...yum, and chicken wings and a big tent party at Durty Nelly's with 80's tribute bands and Too White Crew...that actually sounds fun to me but I wonder how far away it is.

I thought Too White Crew was a blast! I'm not a big Dave Navarro fan but some people might want to go. I'm not sure about the club that he's at though, looks kind of high scale from the pictures and then I saw some half dressed dancing girls, ......do they have strip clubs in Chicago? lol.

Well, if you listen to Manno's show on the radio in Chicago, as opposed to the internet stream where they play music over all the commercials, it seems like 90% of the ads on that show are for strip clubs. Ooops, that's "Gentlemen's Clubs". har har
eta--I just went to check out that Enclave place, and the reviews are horrible! Sounds like a good place to avoid.

That is what I am doing too,
1. Chicago river green at 10:45
2. parade
3. pub crawl
I am with a different group of people this time. I will never karaoke again. It was very very embarassing the last time and I sucked. I cannot carry a tune to save my life, those that heard my awful version of tree's know what I am talking aboot.
Though it would be great, I higly doubt any of the "Guys" will come out and hang out on Saturday (day or night)...

Well I wish I could skip the parade, because I would rather drink. Since my adopted grandfathers last name was Cameron (primary Scottish but also Irish) and my biological grandfather hailed from Dublin Ireland and his last name was McCool. I think that sounds so cool Scott McCool..
I am irish and my mom is from Middlesex, London, UK so I am ready to drink up!!
