I just got back to the hotel, it was a fantastic show (but then again, when is it not?)  I'm tired so I'll just touch on some highlights.  The opening band was great, Hash.  I'll be looking for them.  The concert had a very different feel to it.  St Louis was funny, fun and playful.  KY was very intense, almost cult like.  I'm not saying that in a bad way, it just was strange, but I liked it.  Marty was in full out of control, control.  Demanding, comanding.  I can't wait to see what I get in Cincin.  The highlight for me was Into the Deep End, and of course Clinic (my fav), I'll never have any pictures of the guys playing Clinic because I have to put the camera down for that song.  I have about 300 pictures so far, if someone can help me get them on here I'll post them.  It was great to see everyone again.  I'll try to post more tomorrow.

Intense and cult-like?  Wow!  Sounds like my kind of show.  Can I request that for Champaign?  It's a tribute to their talent how they can put on a different show each time and it still be incredible.
keshet
Thanks for the review taxe! Sounds intense! Cool that you're getting to see so many shows so close together & are getting a different experience each time!

(better come home soon tho, johnny's been very vocal about how much he misses you and has been really obsessed with pies recently...)

Taxe - Thanks for the review!  I can't wait to see your pics, too.  Interesting that it was cult-like.  I'm so anxious for another show now!  I really wish I coulda road tripped with ya.  Keep us posted!

That's so cool, Roberta!  I am glad that you go to see another incredible show!!    I wish that I could have road tripped with you too, babe!  :D

Wow...so much to say....When we walked in to Phoenix Hill I was struck by how small the area was.  I used to go there years ago. It seems like it was bigger then.  So at first I was struck with conflicting emotions. So dang excited because we were going to get to be SO close. (The only other time we saw them was in Chicago and we were up in the rafters.)  Then, disappointed because they deserve so much MORE than this place.

Everyone made the best of it and it was truly an extremely awesome show!!  Like taxegirl had said-the cool part was when Marty took us with him to some other place.  It was just Marty being Marty but you all know what I mean. Just so cool. Reminded me of some of his craziness during the rockstar performances.  And the place ate it up!!  I brought some friends with me who didn't know them and they all kept talking about how much they enjoyed the show and especially how great Marty was.

I think I got some good pix that I've been trying to get posted for you all.
It's all new to me, though, so it's taking some time.

Thanks so much Roberta, can't wait to meet you and John in Michigan

I agree that the show was very intense...aggresive even.  But still a great show.  Every show is so different so you never know what you'll get.  I'll get my pics loaded tomorrow night and I posted a link to video that I took on my camera in the Pic Gallery.  Here's the youtube link:

Hello everyone. This is my first post.  I have been an avid fan of the Lovehammers since Rockstar and went to see my first concert of many at Phoenix Hill.  I had to go to a wedding earlier in the day 100 miles away and was speeding to make it there.  I made it with about 5 minutes to spare.
My wife saved me a spot in the pit and as the concert started the first person that caught my eye was Bobby.  What an incredible drummer he is. Marty as previously mentioned seemed possessed with passion.  This was not a lets all be happy and party concert.  This was a you better like this or I will pull you up on stage and kick you in the ass until you like it concert.   During one song he even turned to a woman sitting far away near the bar and put the spotlight on her telling everybody to stare at her for 30 seconds.
I could go on and on about how great the band was which they were but I want to mention what these guys are really like.  In the meet and greet they were so cool.  Dino will talk your head off.  I made a request that they play Bulletholes in either Cincinnati or Indianapolis since I am going to both and he said that is his favorite song also.  So we will see if my suggestion works.
Marty is so personable.  He wrote out notes for both of our kids who by the way know how to sing most of their songs at ages 5 and 7.
I also told Dino about the ungodly amount I had to pay for their DVD and he asked me if I would send him a copy because he does not even have a copy anymore.  To sum it up, this is a band with star power that has not let it get into their heads.  If we can just start getting them airplay they will be the next big thing. But for right now lets selfishly enjoy seeing this band rockout these small venues.  I doubt it will be small much longer.

P.S.  My wife and I am sure many of the other woman in the crowd noticed that Marty had a problem with his belt but I will leave it at that.

Marty was having a problem with his belt before the Blueberry Hill show , too...but this isn't The Tunnel so I'll say no more...

The show you saw sounds AWESOME! I would love to see Marty like that. He was kinda that way at the Family Arena in February,  Taking you on his little journey into his little world. It was very very cool but it was a bigger venue of course. Close-up like that would be so intense!

Maybe I'll see you and your wife in Indy....I am seriously thinking about going.....
ginaing
Vman, welcome to the board!  Yes, Marty has frequent problems with his belts but you won't be hearing any complaints from me biggrin.gif  I'm glad you guys made it to the show.  I'm wondering if you and your wife were right behind me?  I met a husband and wife in the pit and it was their first show.  I have red hair and wore a burgundy top.  Just curious cause I think I met you guys.  And yes, they are so very personable with their fans.  Its amazing how much time they take with people and how much they genuinely care about the fans.  I hope to see you guys at more shows!

Thanks for the review, VMan!!!  Welcome to the boards!  I loved hearing about the show!  Wish I coulda gone!!!!

There isn't much else to add to the reviews but I wanted to say that I really enjoyed seeing everyone again (and meeting new people).  It was nice to see StephD, Cyberocn (and hammerhubby), taxegirl, Heather, hammeredinindy (and her hubby), Tara Jordan, Camille, and everyone else (I know I'm leaving some people out but I'm so freakin' tired that my brain is barely working...I apologize to everyone I've left out unintentionally).  I drove to Louisville and it was about a 7.5 hour drive each way.  I was there with my friends Stephanie & Susie (lots of Stephs at this show, lol) and we had such a great time.  Stephanie got Bobby to get in the go-go cage with her for a picture (he was such a good sport!). Susie has a huge appreciation for Bobby's arms (LOL) and he even came over so we could toast to his arms with our Lemon Drop shots.  That was pretty damn funny (yes, we'd had a few drinks and were a little silly).

All of the guys were very gracious during the meet & greet, and I was very lucky to get several really nice hugs and a little conversation with Marty.  He loved it when I pulled out the Memphis paper.  He looked at the venue security guy and said "look at this!  I was 50ft. in the air!".  He's really proud of that cover and was thrilled to see it again.  We kept running into Billy & Randy in different rooms so they probably thought we were following them, lol.  But really, we were lost & confused (that place is like a maze).  The show was excellent but definitely agressive and in-your-face and not at all a peppy, upbeat show.  It was moody and intense.  And it was so great to hear Into the Deep End.  The opening band, Hash, was pretty good and I ended up with a drumstick and a guitar pick from them.  Then Dino flicked a pick at me right when he got to his mic.  It bounced right off my boobs (good aim Dino) and landed right in front of me on the stage.  All in all a great night.  I will work on my pics tonight and I hope everyone enjoys the video.  Now I wanna go to another show!!!
cyberocn
Hi all , got a million things to catch up on at home, but wanted to write a quick reveiw .

As Gina and Taxe said the show was very INTENSE. The songs were awesome. Still cant get "Throw my head" out of my head - lol ...

It's hard to explain the feeling of this show as it was different then any show I have been to before. I got the feeling there was an underlying  anger in this performance.  Not sure if this was intentional, but it was intense, not in a bad way, but was different.

It was a little strange at one point when he picked somone in the audience and had us all stare at her (long story more detail later). I felt a bit uncomfortable when this happened, but that was the only time during the show that it seemed a little strange and not like Marty.

The meet and greet was awesome, and they all were very friendly and seemed very happy .

I met alot of new people and some old friends and it was overall an awesone show.

I agree Gina!  It was a great show--an incredible show.  And the fact that it is always different keeps you coming back for more.  Never a dull moment!

I think I prefer the intensity...it's loud, it's mean and it doesn't give you a chance to think, you just react.
ginaing
Definitely never a dull moment!  He was definitely in a zone and in our face a lot.

P.S  ~ I really enjoyed to opening band HASH, in fact, me and Taxe each bought one of there CD's and went around and got all of the band to sign it. They were so sweet, and seemed a little shocked at the attention. They did have a small loyal fan base there to see them, which was cool !!

Now to the bummer part, somehow along the way I set down my signed HASH CD and my LOVEHAMMERS  signed boycut panties,  and lost them (cying and sobbing when I got back to the Hotel and did not have them )

Hope someone from the boards found them, not to give them back, but if you did find these enjoy - lol ... I have NY, Indy and a couple more shows to get something signed again.

hammerhugs,
Kelly

Kelly, that sucks.  I'm so sorry you lost those, especially in light of how excited you were about them.  You showed them to me a couple of times and seemed so happy to have them.  I hope you get them back.

Well, I found out on Friday that the LoveHammers were going to be in town Sat. Night!!!!  I went with my sister of all people as my wife was at home with the kids.  Loved the show, and tried to give Marty HI FIVE during the part of the show where he walked along the top of the bar!  He was trying not to spill any drinks, and keep his head under the lights, so he left me hangin, but I was having a great time singing along to all the tunes.  On the Tunnel, he sang it an octave lower than the record, which I can understand, but I was singing (screaming) the original melody!  Overall, was a great show!!!  Hoping the guys can return one day to possibly play at the PALACE, but they need a few HIT tunes to get more recognition!  The MAD CONDUCTOR was incredible!
ginaing
Welcome John!  Good to see you here on the board and thanks for sharing your experience with us.
johnj28
Thanks for the welcome Gina.  I became a fan during Rockstar, but then I bought the CD, and the rest as they say is history!!!  Looking for big things from Marty and the boys.  The concert in Louisville was very inexpensive by today's standards!  People need to get out and support this group!  Guaranteed a good time!

I definitely agree with that.  The shows are a steal!  I was also a fan during RS but when I got MOMM I just lost my mind.  Then got L'Strange and lost the last little bit.  I've been seeing more and more new fans at shows so I'm very encouraged by that.  Hope to see ya at more biggrin.gif

Would love to come to Indy, but I have a wife and kids, and we pay $10 an hour for a babysitter.  Would make it an expensive evening.....  Also, my 20 year high school reunion is that weekend.  Yes, I am officially old now!

My sister who just turned 43, never heard of the Lovehammers before the concert, and I think she really enjoyed herself as well.  She is only 5'1 so she couldn't see nearly as well as I could (I'm 6'6).  We stood back by the bar and could endulge in a few drinks during the show!!!  Phoenix Hill Tavern is a great place to visit now and again if any of you should find yourself in Louisville.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome here.

John
hammeredinindy
John - funny I am 5'3" - next time your sister can stand next to me in the Pit. My husband is 6'4" - he was sitting and drinking at a table. That is the second time I have been to PHT - pretty cool.
