Hey all! I know that this leg of the tour holds limited access for a lot of Canadians but we still can't back off. We need to get the word out that they're on tour and we need to do our best to help sell out these venues. It is particularly important to spread the word in areas that are within a few hours' drive of the upcoming venues. If you live close to the border and one or more of the dates/venues are withing a reasonable distance please start spreading the word.
Copying this here from the U.S. Street Team boards, because it's very important.
Our guys are back on tour...YES! Now, we have a mission to accomplish. They will do their job to play their hearts out to the crowds, flocks of fans, various groups, Hammerheads, Hammerchickies, Hammerkids, Street Teamers and so on. OUR MISSION is to get everyone to those shows. Yes, we'll be supporting the tour by our presence at the shows in our area...and for some of us, by our presence at some shows not in our area. However, we NEED to get the word out to everyone else...to the people who don't know about the tour...the ones who do not sign on to the boards, to the throngs of potential fans ...the ones who may know who Marty is but may not know who Lovehammers are (yes, shocking I know but they are out there).
There are some beautiful flyer and poster templates that you can print off and use to promote the entire tour. You can also use flyers that are show specific that can be used to promote local shows. Kelly and I will be promoting the Toronto, Buffalo and Michigan dates on Friday when we go to Toronto to see Nickelback & 3 Days Grace. Sure, it may be a stretch but hey, New York State and Michigan really are not that far from Toronto and who knows...we may just be able to bump up the attenance. I'm also planning to hit the streets of London to spread the word and I've got a Street Teamer in Sarnia that I'm going to get working on this.
Please consider doing this whether you've done a lot of Street Teaming, a little Street Teaming or if you're completely new to Street Teaming. It is VERY important. OUR GUYS NEED US! They are the headliners. People at these shows will be going to see Lovehammers, with the exception of whatever fans will be going to support the opening bands. We can't rely as much on potential converts as has happened in the past when they've opened for other bands. When they opened, they entered filled or nearly-filled venues of people who were there to see yes, them, but also to see INXS or whatever band(s) they happened to be opening for at the time. The fans of the other bands had the opportunity to see LH perform and many fans of the other bands fell in love with them. This time, they're pretty much on their own. Please help them to reach the level of success that they truly deserve....the recognition and success that we all know they can achieve..but they need our help.
We need to promote the shows BEFORE they happen. People AT a Lovehammers show, especially when they're headlining, won't be there "by accident". They will be there to see Lovehammers. Although it won't hurt to do some Street Teaming at those shows, it is far less important then, than it is in the weeks prior to the shows. Getting the word out early to inform those who may not otherwise find out about it, is what our primary focus should be.
Now, when the guys are performing as part of a festival of sorts where there are all kinds of acts/bands present or when they're opening, that's a different senario. Certainly it is extremely important to promote those shows ahead of time as well, but Street Teaming the actual event makes sense too. After all, there are probably loads of potential fans, people who "accidentally" see Lovehammers because they're there to see another band. No doubt the guys win over those people anyways, but handing them promo items to take home and put on their fridge or whatever is a great idea. Web addresses and cd info will remind "new" fans or converts to visit the site and buy the cd so it's all good.
I just hope more and more Street Teamers and soon-to-be Street Teamers realize the extreme importance of promoting all of the shows in advance.
